That's right folks we have a new panto writer!
After giving us four amazingly successful pantomimes, Robin Hood, Cinderella, Aladdin and Jack and the Giant Beanstalk, our resident panto writer Jiohn Hopkins has decided that he deserves a Christmas off from writing the panto this year. Although he is parking his magical panto writing pen for this year, he will be still be assitsing us and hopefully appearing as one of the characters.
We are totally thrilled to report that Richard Ahsam has come forward to write the pantomime this year and we have been working with Richard on many ideas. We are very lucky to be working with such a talented and professional writer who can help us build on the good work we have done in the past. Read all about Richards theatrical exploits below.
We are also delighted that Richard will be offering a panto workshop at The Open University on 14th September 2019. from 2 - 6pm Details and booking below
Richard studied at Bristol University which was a bit like being in rep. It gave him the chance to appear in theatre as varied as Jacobean tragedy to contemorary drama via Brecht, Ibsen and sketch comedy. They do a lot of drama there!
After university Richard performed in the first live improvised soap opera and other improvised shows as well as appearing in a number of films (mostly at the back). He was also lead singer with a successful Blues Brothers tribute band (the fat one).
Richard has been teaching and writing throughout including work that has been performed all around the world. One piece has been performed somewhere on the globe every year for the last 25 years.
He specialises in writing in collaboration and taking commissions from small theatre groups. This year's project will be his fourth pantomime and he's very much looking forward to working with the Open University group.
