The Taming of The Shrew

The Taming of the Shrew

The Open Theatre Group are pleased to announce that we have teamed up with ETC Theatre Company to bring you a full scale summer Shakespeare production.

ETC Theatre Comapny are the force behind succesful productions of Witness for the Prosecution, Spamalot and A Bunch of Amateurs!

Together OTG and ETC now bring a rollicking modern version of the classic Shakespeare play, directed by Steve Brigden who has worked variously in  Repertory, Touring Theatre, TV and Film.

This production of The Taming of the Shrew is set in the 1930s : - a period of economic hardship and deprivation but also a great period for radical and free thinking.
This modern, lively comedy tells a story about love.
Often controversial the play's focus is on a couple besotted with each other who struggle conforming to the roles expected of them in 1930's High Society. As their relationship evolves, they play to the gallery amidst a background of charade and shenanigans. With music and costumes from the period there will be plenty of laughs along the way.
